Cycling for the Community
26 September 2024Last week, as part of the numerous community contribution activities organized by the FitSpa division of Ariel Properties Groups, a fund-raising event was held at the A+ Fitness Club at Microsoft Herzliya, managed by Ariel Properties Groups. The event featured a cycling challenge aimed at raising donations for two charitable organizations, “Virtus” and “Brothers for Life,” selected by Meitar Meshulam, the fitness club manager.
For this event, the fitness club allocated two pairs of advanced technology exercise bicycles in the campus lobby—the most central location on campus. A cycling challenge was defined, and data on all employee riding segments were collected over two days. At any given moment, employees could view their distance progress on the screen, along with the corresponding progress of the donation!
The cycling station was staffed throughout these two days, ensuring that at all times, a trainer was present to invite employees to participate in the donation, assist with the operation and adjustment of the bicycles, and ensure that the bicycles were constantly in use. The underlying concept of the event was that the more employees cycled, the larger the sum of money donated to the chosen charities. For every kilometer cycled, Microsoft donated 20 NIS. The target set for the A+ team was 400 kilometers over two days (14 hours in total). In practice, the team succeeded in recruiting a high number of riders and achieved 535 kilometers!
“Virtus” is an organization that promotes competitive-achievement sports among individuals with intellectual disabilities. “Brothers for Life” is an organization that promotes and assists IDF soldiers in their rehabilitation process and in realizing their personal and occupational aspirations as they return to their life trajectories.
Meitar Meshulam, the fitness club manager, stated, “I’m delighted that, as we know how to do, we exceeded the set goal and managed to reach a distance of 535 kilometers of cycling within the given time frame!!! As a result, we donated 10,700 NIS through this sporting activity! This is certainly a commendable and touching initiative, and I was honored to lead it…”
